£8.7 million investment as Northallerton School and Sixth Form joins Academy Trust
As Areté Learning Trust welcomes Northallerton School and Sixth Form College to its family of schools, we are delighted to announce confirmation of nearly nine million pounds of government investment for redevelopment of the school sites.
The school formally became part of Areté Learning Trust on 1st September, but we have been working with the Local Authority and the Department for Education for some time to guarantee the long-term future and progression of the school.
As a result of that work, which included feasibility studies and surveys on all three existing sites, Areté Learning Trust has been awarded £8.7million pounds to redevelop the former sites of the Allertonshire School on Brompton Road.
The work, which is already in the planning stages, will see all existing buildings on both the West and East sites refurbished as well as new buildings created to enhance facilities. The improvements include new specialist areas including Science, Design Technology and Sixth Form facilities, extension to the gym and dining room areas as well as new classroom blocks.
Work will be completed within 2 years when all pupils, including sixth formers will relocate to the refurbished school.
“We are thrilled to welcome Northallerton School and Sixth Form College to Areté Learning Trust and we are incredibly excited about the opportunities that this government investment will give to all pupils at the school” said Catherine Brooker, Chief executive of Areté Learning Trust.
“I know how hard the senior leadership team and teaching staff at Northallerton have been working after a difficult few years and hope this good news marks the start of a new era. Together we are all passionate about improving the school, so that the entire community can take pride in it.”
