Congratulations to George Levett in Y8 who has qualified for the Olympiad round of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust competition.
In 22 years of teaching and entering pupils for the competition, Mr. Tighe, our Head of Maths, has seen plenty of high ability pupils achieving Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Some of the best have moved up to the next round called the “Kangaroo” but only a handful of Stokesley School pupils have made it to the ultimate round… the “Olympiad”.
To qualify for the Olympiad, pupils needed to score 107 or more out of 135 on the Junior Maths Challenge 2017. Only 1200 pupils across the whole UK qualified for this round and with a perfect score of 135 out of 135, George has made it! Of the 1200 pupils who qualified, only 24 achieved a perfect score!
Well done George and good luck in the Olympiad on 13th June.
