Education Welfare Officer

February 2020

Dear prospective candidate,

We are seeking an enthusiastic, competent and self-motivated individual to join our Ethos Team. The Ethos Team is a group of pastoral staff who support the mental health, wellbeing, behaviour and educational achievement of our students.

The team consists of a school-based attendance officer; four ethos team support staff; a Health and Wellbeing Manager and a Head of Pastoral Intervention

In addition, we have five dedicated teaching Heads of Year (Years 7-11), an Assistant Headteacher in charge of Sixth Form and an Assistant Headteacher in charge of engagement and wellbeing. Due to the focus on disadvantaged students, this post will report to the Deputy Headteacher in charge of achievement and standards.

The successful applicant for this post will need to have good knowledge of:
• the DFE Attendance Code of Practice;
• attendance administration;
• organising and chairing Attendance Case Conferences or similar meetings;
• school management information systems, in particular SIMS;
• how to analyse data to develop strategies for improvement;
• working in an educational setting or similar.

Don’t worry if you can’t meet all of the criteria however, because we are looking for the right person above all else: that person will have bags of energy, be great at building relationships with families, be committed to achieving the highest standards of attendance and engagement for our students, and be a fast learner.

You will regularly be out and about in the community, so the successful candidate should also hold a full, clean driving licence and should own a suitable vehicle for travelling on a day-by-day basis. Knowledge of the area is desirable but not essential.

This vacancy is offered as an established post, on a part-time basis 20 hours per week, term time only (plus training days). Hours of work will be five days per week, mornings, 8am-12pm. Hours could be adjusted slightly for the right candidate.

If you think you fit the bill, we look forward to receiving your applications. If you have any questions please contact Mrs Darbyshire by email at j.darbyshire@stokesleyschool.org.
Closing date for applications is Monday 24 February 2020 (noon).

Yours sincerely

Mrs. H.L. Millett
